About the illustrator: Ivy Steele

Ivy Steele was born and grew up in a small village in Southeastern England. College and a rewarding management career in London were followed by many years as a roving expatriate wife and mother of three, living in five countries and traveling to more than forty. Her children now far-flung, she and her husband currently reside in Rome. When, on impulse, she took up drawing she had no idea that art would turn into a passion. Foreign travel and extended stays in remote areas remain large in her life and provide continued inspiration for her artwork. Indeed, almost all of the drawings for Lindsey and the Jedgar were done during trips to Ethiopia. The image of Ryan was modeled on a boy from the rainforest area near the Sudanese border.
